At Heaven & Earth, we work closely with other Bay Area pelvic health professionals to provide individualized and effective acupuncture treatments to address pelvic health concerns. Pelvic Floor Appointments
15-Minute Initial Consultation
This appointment is designed for new patients to Heaven & Earth who are interested in receiving pelvic care. In this visit we will discuss your chief concerns and how pelvic floor acupuncture might be able to help. Before your visit, we ask that you collect documentation from other providers, such as PT’s, OB/GYN’s, or other specialists. You’ll also have time to ask questions and learn more about pelvic floor acupuncture, and it will help us make sure you are prepared for your first in-person visit.
In-Person Pelvic Floor Acupuncture Session (1 Hour)
After your initial consultation, or if you are an existing Heaven & Earth patient who has discussed whether pelvic floor acupuncture might be appropriate for you with your acupuncturist, this one-on-one appointment gives us time for discussion, diagnosis, and treatment. We will go over findings from other providers in detail, discuss treatment plans, and move forward with treatment at a pace that is comfortable for you. Please wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing.
Optional 30-Minute Meridian Acupuncture Add-On
If you’d like to have an additional 30 minutes of meridian (traditional) acupuncture after your Pelvic Floor Acupuncture session, this appointment is for you! Once we have finished our hour-long Pelvic Floor visit, this appointment allows you some extra time on the table to relax and integrate your treatment.
FAQs
Q: How do I know if pelvic floor acupuncture is right for me?
A: The pelvic floor is a dynamic structure encompassing muscles, bones, organs, nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissue. Symptoms of pelvic floor dysfunction are highly variable and wide-ranging, including: pelvic floor pain, urinary or bowel dysfunction, pain with intercourse, erectile dysfunction, hip or back pain, postpartum complications including diastasis recti, hernias, and more. If you think you may be experiencing symptoms related to pelvic floor dysfunction, we highly encourage you to speak to your primary physician or gynecologist, and to begin ongoing care with a physical therapist or other pelvic floor specialist. At Heaven & Earth, we pride ourselves in working closely with your care team, and request that all of our pelvic floor patients are under the current or recent care of a pelvic floor specialist.
If you are already working with a pelvic floor specialist, great! We would love to connect with them and work side by side to ensure that you are receiving the best care possible. We offer our 15-Minute Initial Consultation free of charge to get up to date on your history, discuss treatment plans and options, and answer any other questions you might have.
Q: Do you needle internally?
A: The short answer is, no! Although a brief vaginal or rectal exam may be indicated to ensure efficacy and safety during your pelvic floor acupuncture treatment, all of the muscles are accessed with a needle through external tissue.
Q: Do you treat all genders and bodies?
A: Absolutely. All of our acupuncture treatments are available to everyone!
